Following our Bronze: Rights Committed accreditation last year, I am pleased to announce that Burton Bradstock has now been recognised as a Silver: Rights Aware school!

On Thursday 27th April, Jilly Hillier from UNICEF visited our school and talked with children, staff, governors and members of our wider community. During the visit, she questioned the children on their rights and what it was like to be a pupil at Burton.  She was very impressed with the commitment of the school and could see how the RRSA links to our values and ethos. UNICEF is the world’s leading organisation working for children and their rights, and we are part of a community of over 4,500 schools in the UK working on the Rights Respecting Schools Award.

Right Respecting Schools across the country have reported that that the Award has many positive impacts including improved relationships, wellbeing and self-esteem, leading to better attendance and improved learning.
