Owls have had a wonderful time at Magdalen Farm. They’ve enjoyed lots of different activities and have been a credit to our school. Thank you to Mrs Varndell-Paulley and Mrs Sage for organising the trip!
When Mrs Proctor left last year, she very kindly donated some planters and gave us a voucher for Groves. We are so thankful for this and our school is coming into bloom with all the beautiful plants that we bought. We used the voucher to also buy some new hanging baskets and brackets which are looking truly fabulous. Thank you so much Claire for your legacy gift.
Over the May half term, the playground equipment which we have been fundraising for was installed! All the old apparatus was replaced with a new ‘trim trail’ featuring a balance beam, traverse wall, wobbly log and rope weavers. Alongside the trim trail we have installed some roll over bars which are proving very popular. The playground surface has also been upgraded to artificial grass which brightens up the space and provides a great surface for sitting and playing on.
Thank you for supporting our fundraising events and to our Friends for putting them on – it is great to see projects such as this able to go ahead for the benefit of all the children at our school.

Eco Club started in the Summer term and we have already achieved some of the goals we set at the beginning of the club. The children from Preschool to year 6 worked together to create a list of all the things we could achieve locally. We have completed a litter pick of the village and the beach, re-planted the school planters and hanging baskets and been emptying the recycling bins for each classroom.
This term Owls have enjoyed the beginning of their topic on Ancient Greeks and are looking forward to an Ancient Greek day on Thursday 6th July (dressing up is optional!) They have done lots of art - from coronation self-portraits to expressionist art. The Year 6s worked incredibly hard in the build up to and during SATs week; we are very proud of their excellent attitudes towards their assessments. They were excited to receive their Leavers' hoodies in this week's celebration worship!
Children from KS2 have been going to Bridport Golf Club with Mr Proudfoot after school. They have been learning the foundations to a solid golf swing, while having bundles of fun! Maybe we've found the next Tiger Woods?
This terms 'Burton Talks' had a wide variety of topics and as usual, was a wonderful opportunity for the children to talk about something they love. We had talks about knitting, Roblox, Sewing, Popcorn, Football and Dancing.
The children were so excited for the first visit and as you can see, Mikey took it all in his stride and is going to be a fabulous addition to the school.
The children who participated in the first ever 'Burton Talks' did themselves, and me, proud! They spoke confidently and showed that they had really thought about what they wanted to say. The topics covered were American Jeeps, Music, Sign Language, Roblox, Cranes and Cats. The children who wanted to come and listen were really respectful and supportive and showed true 'Burton' spirit by cheering each other on and congratulating each other. The date for the next talk will be decided after half term so get your thinking caps on and decide what you would like to talk about!

Burton Bradstock CE Primary aims to be a school where children’s rights are at the heart of our ethos and culture, to improve wellbeing and to develop every child’s talents and abilities to their full potential. As part of this plan, we are working towards recognition as a ‘Rights Respecting School’, an award given to schools on behalf of Unicef UK.
Unicef is the world’s leading organisation working for children and young people and their rights. In 1989, governments across the world agreed that all children have the same rights by adopting the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). These rights are based on what a child needs to survive, grow, participate and fulfil their potential.
Our pupils will learn about their rights by putting them into practice every day. A Rights Respecting School models rights and respect in all its relationships.
We really hope that you will be able to support our school on our journey towards becoming a Unicef UK Rights Respecting School. It would be great if you could spend a few minutes reading through the questions & answers on the next page, and you can also find out more about the Convention on the Rights of the Child by visiting unicef.org.uk/crc.
